Drive down to the Port of Gold Beach across from the dog pound and you will find the boat ramp at the port. Walk the board on down and head out through the harbor entrance and head west toward the sand spit The race cource will run from the sand spit at the mouth of the Rogue River up river 3.5 miles to snag patch and back. It's about a half mile to the bridge. Head up towards the Rogue Landing on the south side of the river.towards the small island in the river. Its your choice but heading to the right (south side) offers more water and less current. The island is about three quarters of a mile past the bridge. When you get back to the main channel of the Rogue River stay as far north as you can if it's windy. The bank of the Rogue is about 15 feet which offers protection when it's windy (there is a great band of flatwater). After about 2.5 miles the river bends to the north and the current picks up as the river narrows. If there is wind and the current is strong the last mile up to Snagg Patch can be tough. You will see a fake tree that is a cell tower which is a turn aroud point. There will be a bouy and race steward at the turn around point.
