The Beachcomber expects to add $3,000 in prize money with a $50.00 entry fee. The entry fee will get you in both the race and the SUP surf contest, a shirt and food at the Inn of the Beachcomber. I will be working to get some additional sponsor's so we may do better on the prize money.
Without a doubt Gold Beach is known for is's killer wind picking up in the early summer and blasting till fall. We will try to pick of as many of the calm days as we can during the week. The call will be made at 7:00 am each morning with a 30 minute start time for the next heat. It should be easy to know if we are running from the models once we get close. I am heading over to Sunset for the first stop on the World Tour and those mdels look unreal for the 8th. Hope to drum up some intrest with the big boys. If I am close I think Kai and Zane were wildcards at that event the last 2 years so I can't wait to see what sunset gives us This year.
Back to basics. We need wind and waves for the Wave Bash and know how often the windsurfers want more wind. We will run the contest on the days that the waves are best and the expected wind is down. We hope to cross enter a ton of surfers in both events. It's possible that the contest might finish at Pistol. Will know more when we see what's going on. Here is the tentative schedule. If there is an amateur bracket we will run that as quick as we can or on the last weekend of the wave bash based on the feedback from the surfers.
