Check out this video shot in "victory at sea " conditions last March during the Surftech shootout. Can't wait to get back this year and shoot steamer lane on a dry day. The conditions last year were harsh to film. It was cool to see Victory At Sea live as the watermen braved the conditions. Zane Schweitzer picked up where he left off after making the finals at Sunset winning the competition Zane made the finals and was second at the Stand Up Showdown at Pistol River.
Zane will join 2XWorld Champion Kai Lenny, and Bernd Roediger this year at the Stand Up Show Down and Race up the Rogue River this June the 10th through the 17th. They will all be my guest at the Inn of the Beachcomber for the week. I am flying out to the Sunset event on the World Tour and hope to recruit some of the top talent to give those guys a run at my money. I will be addling $3,000 to the event. Last year the Wave Bash with the SUP event was epic. With the race it's got to be over the top this year. I'm thinking this pretty much makes The Stand Up Showdown at the Beachcomber the premier Stand Up Paddle Event on the mainland until the World Tour hits California. A chance for the real watermen to step forward with a sup race, surf contest and the AWT wave sailing event. I think this may be the only event with all three disciplines.
